We are very pleased to announce that the Tinian stone produced in our quarry is included in the publication just released by the Hellenic Geological and Mineral Research Authority (EAGME, formerly IGME) of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, entitled "STRUCTURAL ROCKS OF THE AEGEAN".
This study was prepared in the context of a funded operation of the Operational Program "Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation" of the NSRF 2014-2020.
The study was implemented by the LITHOS Laboratory of EAGME, with Dr. K. Laskaridis, Geologist, Director of Mineral Resources and Mining of EAGME.
We would like to especially thank Dr. Laskaridis, as well as the entire Working Group that contributed to the preparation of the study, for the impeccable cooperation and the perfect scientific result, which constitutes a complete "Map" that highlights the physical and mechanical characteristics of the building materials (decorative rocks) found in the Regions of North and South Aegean.
Especially for our island, it is worth noting that it is the first time that the Tinian schist stone of our quarry is recorded, examined, evaluated and highlighted in an official way and indeed by a public body of particularly high scientific prestige, such as EAGME.
